Advent and Attunement.
Advent, the little, quiet season that holds great grace.
We are called to be attuned, to be attentive, to be vigilant, to wait, to endure, to prepare, to hope.
We are called to extend our hands wider.
To stretch our hearts further.
To find space, wherever there is any, and to give it to Him.
To slow our pace and steady our footing.
To seek light in the darkest of days.
To find within ourselves the grace of perseverance and the joy of hope.
To submit our wills to the One who directs them.
To soak in the beauty, the quiet, the goodness, the peace that is all around us.
To wait with great purpose, with great expectation.
I am hoping to wait and prepare with vigilance. To be attentive and attuned to the presence of Christ within and around me. To soak up and to soak in the mysteries that give us the Incarnate Word.
And the main way I’m going to do that is to leave the Social Media space for a while. It’s time for me to address the tension and let Him teach me how to knock out the giants of distraction and comparison and attachment. I’m seeking a heart that’s a lot less distracted and a lot more aware.
What are you seeking?
How are you making space this Advent?
What distractions are short-changing your relationship with Him?
Don’t waste this short, little season that shapes our hearts to receive the Word.
Lean in to the mystery, check out from worldliness, pray and hope more deeply.
Maranatha! Come, Lord Jesus. Our hearts long for You.
